What is special about the "i" version?

The NL2160HPi uses Nitecore's proprietary i-Series (Intelligent) dual-output contact system, with extra contacts that allow compatible Nitecore flashlights to access special functions and higher performance modes. These batteries are intended for flashlights such as the P-Series i, MH-Series i, etc.
The NL2160HPi is backwards compatible with most devices because it still has normal positive and negative terminals. Most lights and chargers will simply treat it like a regular 21700 battery.
